As we reached the end of our first half term, we were incredibly proud of the progress, achievements and experiences our pupils have shared at Adventure in Learning.
Our half-term highlights
Primary attendance: 89.5%
Secondary attendance: 80.1%
Whole provision attendance: 81%
A special shout-out to two of our pupils for achieving 100% attendance. What a fantastic achievement!
Learning beyond the classroom
Our primary pupils enjoyed a fantastic end to the half term, including pumpkin carving, meeting birds of prey, taking part in a Halloween quiz and a trip to the trampoline park! We also celebrated individual achievements at our Primary Achievement Awards, with every pupil receiving a certificate recognising their effort, progress and successes.
Our secondary pupils have been exploring new experiences through outdoor activities such as fishing and orienteering, while working together to create classroom displays celebrating their learning and reflecting their chosen Halloween theme.
Progress that goes beyond grades
Throughout this half term, our pupils have completed their baseline assessments, helping us identify their individual strengths and areas for development. By listening to pupil voice and tailoring support to individual needs, we can help every young person build confidence, develop their skills and make progress at their own pace.
We’ve also been delighted to hear positive feedback from the parent of a former pupil who is now studying at Newcastle College, continuing to develop his skills following the successful achievement of his Level 2 Sports Leadership qualification in September 2026.
Moments like these remind us that progress doesn’t stop when a pupil leaves us — the confidence, skills and experiences developed along the way can open doors to new opportunities.
Why small steps matter
At AIL, progress isn’t always measured by grades. It can be:
Growing in confidence
Improving attendance
Developing independence
Trying something new
Building positive relationships
Discovering new interests and opportunities
Celebrating personal achievements
Every step forward matters, and we’re proud of the effort our pupils have shown this half term.
Is your child finding school difficult? We’re here to listen.
If mornings are becoming a struggle, attendance is slipping, or your child is losing confidence in education, please know that you’re not alone — and you don’t have to figure everything out by yourself.
At Adventure in Learning, we understand that behind every young person’s difficulties is an individual story. Sometimes, a different approach, the right relationships and a little extra support can be the beginning of a positive change.
You don’t need to wait until things become overwhelming to ask for help.
Get in touch with our team for a friendly chat about your child’s needs and the support that may be available. We’ll listen, explore the options with you and help you consider the next steps.
Families can also access advice and support through Newcastle Family Hubs.
Because every young person deserves to feel understood, supported and capable of moving forward.
Small steps can lead to big progress — and sometimes, the first step is simply starting a conversation.
Thank you to our staff, families and partner schools for supporting our young people every step of the way!
Building resilient futures through learning adventures.
